"I am for the patient, by the patient, and with the patient. Being complemented by patients and their family members as a kind and gentle doctor has meant more to me than any of the awards that I have received over the years" Dr. Ashish B. Parikh Among many honors, Dr. Parikh received the award of "Young Investigator of the Year," in 1996 from the American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin. After completing his medical training in India at a very early age, he graduated in general medicine and received his internal medicine degree at that time. Upon arriving in the United States, he was compelled to repeat his entire residency in medicine to be eligible to practice here. While growing up in India, Dr. Parikh always had a warm and compassionate heart for people. As a college student and later as a doctor, he spent countless numbers of days helping underserved people. Dr. Parikh graduated in 1985 in India. There he practiced internal medicine and specialized in nephrology. He repeated his residency at St. Vincent Hospital at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester. Thereafter he completed an additional year of residency in cardiac surgery at the Medical Center of Delaware. Dr. Parikh's journey continued, both medically and geographically when he came to California to work in cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an additional three years. THere he practiced both interventional and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Parikh and his wife decided to move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for training in an additional specialty in the field of peripheral vascular medicine and interventions at St. Luke's Hospital where he studied with Dr. Gerald Doros, a world expert in peripheral vascular intervention. |
